4. First Job: Dishwasher at a seafood restaurant in New Jersey, age 14.

6. Your Awards: Best Hotel Dining by the California Restaurant Association, San Diego in 2007, 2008, 2009.

7. Your Cooking Inspiration: Hunger. When you enjoy food as much as I do, you learn quickly.

8. Your Speciality Dish: Mussels & Chorizo in a tomato, chardonnay and garlic broth.

9. Favorite Dish To Eat: A big cheese plate that includes Roaring 40’s blue and Scharfe Maxx 360.

10. Weirdest Thing You Ever Ate: Guinea Pig in Peru… it actually tasted like pork, but it sounds weird.

11. Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: Pistachio with salted pretzels.

12. Favorite Drink: JRDN’s spin on the Negroni – Hendrick’s gin, Aperol, Cocchi Americano.

14. Who Would You Most Like To Cook For: Andy Trousdale, my first culinary instructor.

15. Who Would You Least Like To Cook For: No one. That said, I would like to convert all vegans to buttered-bacon eaters.

16. Favorite Things To Do When Not Cooking: Hike and work in my garden.

17. Your Latest Project: Turning my backyard into a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) bag and then cooking with the harvest.

18. Favorite City and Why: Madrid. You get churros and hot chocolate for breakfast, and it’s acceptable to order a beer with them.
