Meet the Team at Chef Works series gives that behind-the-scenes insight to the inner-workings and roles of our fantastic and hard-working dedicated team at our international company.
Second up in this series is David Fielding, our Senior Graphic Designer based in San Diego, USA. Say hi, David…
How long have you worked at Chef Works?
Just over four years and counting.
Describe your job in one sentence…
As a Senior Graphic Designer, I am responsible for conceptualising and implementing design solutions for our many international markets that meet marketing strategies and the wider brand values of Chef Works.
Best thing about working in the hospitality industry?
It’s fast-paced and varied.
And the worst?
It moves quickly, so I’ve got to stay tuned constantly, there’s never any down time.
Describe a day in your life at Chef Works HQ…
Design, edits, edits and more edits, until we are ready to print/publish.
Favourite item from the Chef Works collection?
The Denver Chef’s Cross-back Bib Apron from our Urban Collection. It looks so great and is also really practical.
Favourite restaurant, café, bar?
In general, I like the hole-in-the-wall, greasy spoon type of eateries and the Long Bar in New Orleans, USA.
Lifelong ambition?
To be a good father and husband.
Weirdest job you ever had?
Working at the Motion Picture & Television Fund Hospital as a Chef.
Best ever restaurant experience?
1500 OCEAN Restaurant at the Hotel del Coronado, San Diego, USA, with its spectacular beachfront view and delicious coastal cuisine.
What makes you get up in the morning?
My job and my family.
Your best achievement at Chef Works?
Always meeting my deadlines and keeping my boss happy (she’s editing this, it has to be said!).
And finally, what would you choose as your death row meal?
It’s between an assorted array of quality sushi with a glass of wine/cold beer or a plate of quality southern fried chicken, collard greens and a cold beer. The ‘cold beer’ gets mentioned twice…
